it is as if walking into an unfinished world in which the scaffolding, once presumed a holdover from a project left abandoned, becomes the trellis from some sort of flowering vine of madness.the medium is the message, and i have embraced the concept of those bones being just as much a part of my artistic process as what i use to weave in sinew and muscle to make something beautiful out of it. through a variety of genres and forms, i find a way to pull on the threads of what makes each style tick and use it to my advantage.

My name is Illianna Nora Wotton, I'm a multifaceted creative in Toronto, Canada, and I specialize in experimental fiction told through narrative writing, live performance, and semi-abstract physical art installations.I have a background in Film & Television production- not just from my diploma from Humber Polytechnic, but from the fact it's the family business. Special Effects (prosthetics, makeup, pyrotechnics, particularly in horror productions) are what I grew up learning on sets; but I inevitably wanted to try being in front of the camera instead of behind it, even if that led me down the path to fall in love with theatre, instead.My youth was spent on stage with a myriad of productions (Les Miserables, Shrek the Musical, Wizard of Oz, various independent plays), as well as getting a solid basis of classical vocal training before spinning off to make a delightfully of-its-time artrock album in my teen years. I was also performing alongside my teammates of the Bam Youth Slam in a swath of spoken word poetry competitions, which was a fascinating place to hone my more particular writing voice (while getting full tens across the board from the judges, no less).As I've moved into my later adult years, I've pivoted to a more hands-on approach to some of my artistic expression; I have always been a writer and performer, but I've also always had a deep respect and interest in making the physical parts that bolster these narratives in the real world. My mediums in this train of thought (after trying MANY to see what feels right for my styles) seem to be experimental sculptural work, and floral design installations. After graduating from Seneca's Floral Design Program with High Honours, I've spent my time lately working in the art department of Daydream Adventures in Toronto- a woman and queer-owned escape room company that collaborates with artists to create their immersive experiences.My deepest love, however, has always been creative writing. Be it the songs and poems of my youth, modules for tabletop roleplaying games, short stories and bite-sized narratives, full-on worldbuilding projects, or experimental interactive fiction, I am constantly tooling away on all sorts of individual stories in all directions. My writing style is adaptive but potent, bizarre and engaging, and melts around whatever form a story is meant to take. I believe my love of all the other art forms I hold close (like performance, like installation art) all come from this same core desire to tell that story in a way that makes you feel drawn into it, as close as humanly possible.
